Crystal Falls is pleased to welcome our latest commercial member, Primrose Schools, building an accredited private preschool on the north side of Osage Dr. at Lakeline Boulevard. Carla Cooper, Construction Project Manager for Primrose, noted construction has begun. Residents are excited to have a preschool located conveniently within the community. The goal of Primrose Schools is to help children have fun while building Active Minds, Healthy Bodies and Happy HeartsTM. Their vision is to deliver the best and most trusted early childhood education and child care services for families across America. The Balanced Learning SystemTM supports children’s social-emotional, cognitive, creative and physical development. This philosophy is integrated into the curriculum through child initiated activity, teacher guided classroom demonstrations and encouragement, guidance in essential character traits and behaviors and an atmosphere of trust and personal caring. Child-related themes such as space, transportation or jungle animals provide a meaningful context for learning through interesting topics. Children write about the topics, create related art projects, sing theme-related songs and pretend with creative movement and free play. Enrichment programs that include fitness activities, nature study and cultural diversity add another dimension to children’s learning experience. Each child participates in monthly discussions with a focus on safety and personal well-being. Scheduled activities include visits by local senior citizens, role playing that encourages values such as honesty, compassion, respect and good judgment and communityminded lessons that encourage helping others. Academics are integrated into the day as the curriculum balances understanding of mathematical concepts with essential skills and problem solving. In a balance of teacher-guided and child-initiated activities, children develop an understanding of numbers and numerical relationships, operations, measurement, and patterns to solve problems and reason mathematically. Each classroom has a special collection of engaging books and writing materials that are age appropriate.
